Alan Kip Marcellus was born on December 23, 1963, in San Diego, California to Robert and Kathleen (McFarland) Marcellus, and departed this life on January 6, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, craftsmanship, and community service.
Kip married Angela (Black) Marcellus, his grade school sweetheart and love of his life on June 26, 1982, in Abilene, Texas where they later settled in Kemp and raised their children building a family full of love. Kip was known not only for his unwavering commitment to his family and friends but also for his remarkable contributions to the Kaufman Church of Christ, where he served as an Elder. His leadership and enthusiasm for volunteering in various ministries, particularly with the youth group, showcased his deep commitment to nurturing the next generation in their faith.
Kip was a man of many interests, with a particular passion for woodworking. He took immense pride in making custom pieces in “PawPaw’s Woodshop,” pouring his creativity and skill into each piece. His love for the outdoors led him to enjoy fishing and camping, activities that he embraced wholeheartedly and often shared with loved ones. He had an adventurous spirit that was well complemented by his role as an avid Texas Rangers fan, where his loyalty to the team mirrored his loyalty to those he held dear.
To those who knew Kip, he was not just a colleague or a friend; he was a steadfast presence and a source of support in times of need. His deeply devoted nature was evident in both his professional engagements and personal relationships, creating bonds that will be cherished and remembered fondly.
Kip is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Marcellus and Kathleen Irvin and bonus mom/mother-in-law, Glynna Ann Black.
Kip is survived by his wife, Angela Marcellus; children, Valerie Smith and spouse Christopher, Todd Marcellus and spouse Ashton, and Tabitha McCormack and spouse Austin; bonus child, Joseph Duvall; grandchildren, Skyler Marcellus – Ojeda, Dillon Smith, Ambralyn Smith, Brooklyn Smith, Halee Marcellus, McKinlee Marcellus, Emmalee Marcellus, Paisley McCormack, Carter McCormack, and Cole McCormack; siblings, Bryan Marcellus and spouse Tami, Stephanie Marcellus, and Tricia Folley; sister-in-law, Paula Black; bonus dad/father-in-law, Richard Black; numerous nieces and nephews.
Alan Kip Marcellus will be remembered for his kindness, craftsmanship, and the positive impact he made on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
