Barbara Ann McCurry, age 73, passed away on December 26, 2024, at her home in Tool, Texas. She was born on January 22, 1951, in Wichita Falls, Texas to parents Jim and Etta Mae (Tuck) Wood.
Barbara was a proud graduate of San Benito High School, where the foundations of her journey began—one marked by devotion to family and a vibrant spark that brought joy to those around her.
Barbara was known for her warm personality; she was funny, loving, caring, and intelligent. She absolutely adored children, and this deep affection shone brightly in her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. Barbara cherished every moment spent with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, sharing laughter and life lessons with them that would linger long in their hearts.
Whether it was reading a good book, solving logic problems or working on word search puzzles, Barbara turned every interaction into a cherished memory. Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
A visitation for Barbara will be held on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home of Kemp.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Etta Mae Wood; ex-husband and friend, Ronnie McCurry and two siblings.
Barbara is survived by her partner, Henry Bonk of Tool, Texas; children, Ronnie McCurry (Lainie Verdan) of McGregor, Texas and LaRhesa McBride (Chris McBride) of Trinidad, Texas; grandchildren, Garrett Haley (Kirston Haley) of Terrell, Texas, Clay Haley (Kaitlin Haley) of Tool, Texas, and Emily Haley (Chasity Lee) of Tool, Texas; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Lynn Steeley (Chuck), and Joe Grotte; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and “adopted” family.
