Dorothy Louise Max, a beloved matriarch and devoted spirit, departed this earthly realm on November 4, 2024, at the age of 94. Dorothy Louise Dixson was born on September 10, 1930, in Cambridge, Nebraska where she was raised by her parents. She lived a life that was rich in love, faith, and unwavering dedication to her family, leaving behind a legacy that will be forever.
Dorothy's life was a testament to the virtues of hard work and nurturing love. With a career spanning over two decades at ABox in Kaufman and her treasured role as a housewife and mother, she demonstrated profound commitment to both her profession and her family. She took great pride in being a devoted Christian and, for many years, served alongside her husband as a pastor’s wife in the Dallas, Texas area. Together, they celebrated their union and faith, marking the joyous occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary in 1998.
Her every day was infused with the joy of nurturing her family. Dorothy found immense pleasure in the simple yet profound act of cooking for her loved ones, pouring her heart into every meal she prepared. An avid reader, she savored the worlds that books opened before her, each page a new adventure inviting her in. Moreover, her green thumb brought beauty and life to her surroundings, as she lovingly tended to her roses, which bloomed vibrantly in her yard.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her cherished husband Eldon Lewis Max, her parents Thomas and Elizabeth Dixson, numerous brothers and a sister, her twin grandsons Eldon and David Lewis, and one great-grandson Christian Ray. Their absence is felt deeply, yet Dorothy’s spirit lives on in the memories of love and devotion she shared so generously.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Rita M. Lewis and her husband David; her son Marvin Max; a grandson, Craig A. Lewis and his wife Ruby and great-grandchildren Skyler B. Lewis and Paige M. Lewis; granddaughter Talana M. Welch and her husband Robert and great-grandsons Carson R. Welch, and Cason R. Welch; granddaughter Tammy Ray and her husband Nick and great-grandsons Nathan Ray and Brice Ray; granddaughter Donna Rowe and her husband Jason all carry within them the indelible mark of her love.
