Gencie Watson

September 30, 1967 — October 27, 2024

Kemp, Texas

Gencie Allene Watson, of Kemp, Texas left this world on October 27, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Gencie was born on September 30, 1967, in Oxnard, California, to parents Billy Ray and Sandra Gail (Creasy) McGill.

Gencie was a dedicated woman who embodied compassion and care in every aspect of her life. For nearly 30 years, Gencie worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, specializing in the care of individuals affected by Alzheimer's, Dementia, and adults with special needs. Her career was not just a job; it was her calling. Gencie’s profound ability to connect with her patients and make them feel loved and cherished was one of her greatest achievements. She inspired those she cared for to embrace life to the fullest and reach their maximum potential, leaving a lasting impact on many lives.  Outside of her professional life, Gencie was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, who she married on April 8, 2017, in Crandall, Texas and fondly referred to as "Her Larry." Together, they shared a life filled with love and laughter, along with cherished moments spent fishing and camping. Gencie was also a proud mother and meemaw; often filling her home with joy as she played with her grandbabies and created memorable experiences for her family.  Known for her fun and quirky personality, she never once missed an opportunity to tell a joke or make everyone she encountered laugh. Gencie was an amazing example of a Christian, Holy Spirit filled women. Her selflessness, empathy, and kindness shone through everything she did. A persistent fighter, she was strong-willed and the most caring person her family knew. She had a knack for making each gathering special—whether sharing Folgers coffee at the kitchen table or cooking up generous meals that made everyone feel welcome. No one ever left her house after a visit without a full belly and a smile.  Gencie spent her days engaging in hobbies that brought her joy. She loved fishing, crafting, gardening, and wholeheartedly caring for those she loved. Spending time outdoors and taking care of her yard and plants were particularly fulfilling for her. She loved spending time with her soulmate, Larry, her children, grandchildren, Diesel, her puppy, family and friends. Gencie was someone who prioritized praying for her loved ones and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.   Gencie loved attending church allowing her to praise the Lord and grow with her church family. Even as her body grew weak on this earth, she faithfully shared the gospel with those that she encountered, making sure that they knew the Lord as she did.  In remembering Gencie, we celebrate her marriage to her soulmate, the birth of her children and grandbabies, and her dedication to caregiving. The warmth she spread will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Watson; daughters, Angela Bolding and Adam of Texas, Kimberly Throckmorton and Daniel of Arkansas and Brooklynne Stracener of Arkansas; step children, Heather, Josh, Sheila, Shaylee, and Sammy; grandchildren, Canaan, Charlotte, Lydia, Caleb, Cheylyn, Tilly, Charlie (Cricket), Gencie (Bella) Elliott, Wrenley, Grayson, Bryson, Joseph, Jacob, Wendalyn, and Madalyn; and her stepmother, Nancy McGill.
