James R Green died peacefully on May 4, 2022 at his home. He was born January 19, 1926 in Quanah Texas to Randolph Green and Jewel (Richardson) Green. He was married to Marilyn Reeves in 1948 in Denton Texas while both were students; he at North Texas State University (UNT) and she at Texas State College for Women (TWU).
James served in WWII and had a long career with the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs. After living in several midwestern and eastern US cities he and his family returned to their home state of Texas residing in Tool for 53 years.
James was Past Master of Cedar Creek Lake Lodge 1431; Past Thrice Illustrious Master of the Dale E Miller Council #40; Past High Priest of Dale E Miller Chapter #55; Past Commander Taylor Commandry #85; and received the prestigious Golden Trowel Award which is the Lodge’s formal recognition of a Brother for his devoted service to Masonic principles. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, golf, reading and crossword puzzles. Family members remarked that Papaw knew a little something about everything and was often the source they turned to for advice and answers.
James is preceded in death by his parents; wife Bobbie; daughter-in-laws, Barbara Green and Sheri Green; son-in-law Johnny Hughes; and great granddaughter Lindsey Goen.
He is survived by his children, Michael Green, Charlsey Holler (husband Jeff ) Preston Green and Meg Hughes.
Grandchildren Michael Kerns (husband Kris) Robin Goen (husband Joe), Stacy West (husband Ron), Jennifer Campbell (husband Alden), Paxton Green (wife Shree), Caleb Green (wife Kristin), Robert Hughes (wife Christy), and Richard Hughes.
Great grandchildren: Mackenzie Hughes, Brendan West, Kelsey West, Ella West, Walker West, Paige Campbell, Briley Green, Bryce Green, Brady Green, Bailey Hughes, Makayla Hughes, Allie Kerns, Kasey Kerns, Stevana Kerns, Sunny Goen, Randi Goen.
Serving as pallbearers are his grandsons and great grandsons.
The family extends their sincere gratitude for the love and care provided by Charter Hospice Care, especially his nurse, Rayne Barfield and his aide Patti B Boswell.
