Mae Pearl (Mixson) Prda, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024 at the age of 101, at her home in Payne Springs, Texas. Her valiant effort to recover from a broken hip in recent months showed her courage and optimism in facing life’s challenges. She was born on September 6, 1922 in Grays Prairie, Texas to William and Minnie (Hutchison) Mixson. Mae married her beloved husband George Stanley Prda on September 14, 1940 in Kaufman, Texas. They were married for 58 years until his death in 1998.
“Granny”, as she was affectionately known, was a faithful Christian, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great/great-great grandmother and friend to many throughout her amazing life. She loved traveling with her husband on business trips or simply riding around in the car. She loved polka music, dancing and old westerns. She had an AMAZING memory, was a born storyteller, and was also known to enjoy an occasional margarita from time to time! Granny will especially be remembered for how she always protected and cared for the needs of her husband, her children, and her grandchildren. She loved her family unconditionally.
Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love a guide to us all.
Mae was preceded in death by her husband, George Stanley Prda; her parents; children, James Stanley Prda, Janie Marie (Prda) Jackson, and Donald Michael Prda; brothers, William “Bryant” Mixson, and James “Jim” Woodrow Mixson.
