Michael Wayne Baxter

Michael Wayne Baxter, born on July 25, 1955, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, journeyed peacefully into eternal rest on September 3, 2024. His life, though carved from the ordinary, shimmered with the extraordinary moments that made it utterly unique.

Michael was the embodiment kindness and warmth, a gentle soul to those within his orbit. He had a remarkable ability to make others feel at ease. His laughter resonated through every room, infectious and bright, illuminating even the darkest of days.  A devoted family man, Michael’s life revolved around the love he shared with his beloved spouse, Doris of 44 years, their joyous union a testament to enduring partnership. He was a proud father to Vickie Henry (spouse - Mike) and Robby Joe Baxter (spouse - Allie), a proud grandfather to Rusty Henry (spouse - Ashley), and a delighted great-grandfather to Emma June Henry. Each relationship painted another rich hue on the canvas of his life filled with shared memories and mutual support. Their lives intertwined, creating a tapestry of love and laughter that will echo through the generations.  Michael had a zest for life that was undeniable. He found joy in the simplest pleasures, from indulging in delicious meals to reveling in the thrill of professional wrestling. The adrenaline rush of western and action movies offered him an escape and a source of entertainment he cherished deeply. And who could forget the excitement of “Sunday Game Night,” where Michael emerged as a masterful Uno player. Those evenings were lovingly crafted moments of connection and friendly competition, laughter filling the air as loved ones gathered around the table.  His passion for sports, especially his unwavering loyalty to the Dallas Cowboys, united him with the spirited camaraderie of fellow fans. The thrill of each game fueled his spirit and forged friendships that further enriched his life.  Michael embraced life with his fur babies—Rosie, Simon, Lupin, Luna, Apollo, and Artemus—his loyal companions who brought endless joy and comfort. They too shared in the laughter, the quiet evenings, and the moments of simple bliss that marked the passage of his days.

As we gather to celebrate the vibrant life of Michael Wayne Baxter, let us not dwell solely on loss, but rather revel in the legacy of love and joy he leaves behind. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp, TX, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
