In Loving Memory of Mollie A. Smith
Mollie, age 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of August 30, 2024, with her family by her side after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Mollie was born on April 25, 1941, in Kemp, Texas, she was one of 7 children. Mollie married her lifelong sweetheart, Harold W. Smith on December 19, 1958, whom she met after Harold saw her walking with a saw in one hand and a loaf of bread in the other and jokingly asked her if “the bread was really that hard.” Together they created a loving home and raised 4 children.
Mollie’s greatest joys in life were caring for her family, decorating for the holidays, and cooking big meals for family gatherings. She was a Christian by faith and was a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Seven Points, Texas. Mollie was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and she will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved her.
Mollie is preceded in death by her parents, James and Cora Atherton, as well as her 6 siblings.
Mollie is survived by her loving husband of over 65 years, Harold W. Smith; sons, Kenny W. Smith of Wieland, Texas, and Ricky Smith of Seven Points, Texas; twin daughters, Angela Tanksley of Seven Points, Texas, and April Butler and husband Kacy of Lindale, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 11:00am under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Romulo Rivera at Kemp Cemetery, 1114 Tolosa Rd., Kemp, Texas, 75143. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Josh Thornberry, Alden Tanksley, Wyatt Butler, Brooks Butler, Connor Hamm, and Cody Smith.
