Norma Jean Tharp

Norma Jean Tharp, 84, of Kemp, TX went to be with the Lord on November 5, 2024. Norma was born on April 23, 1940, to Lonnie Homer and Edna Maurine Cox in Kaufman County, TX. She grew up in Kaufman where she graduated high school in 1959. On January 2, 1960, Norma married Michael Tharp and they have been together for a loving 64 years. While her kids were young she stayed home with them, but when they were all in school, she went to work. She worked several years for Aberdeen and then was employed at the Kaufman Post Office where she was employed for around 20 years. Norma was skilled at sewing, upholstery and enjoyed cooking for many years. She also enjoyed gardening in her flower beds and had a great love for animals. Norma’s most precious time was spent with her family. She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Edna, sons Michael Tharp and Ricky Dale Tharp, great grandson Adrian Anderson, and brother Charles Cox. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Michael, daughter Michelle Tharp, grandchildren Tara Schoenle and husband Eugene, Courtney Tharp, Chelsea Tharp, Ricky Dale Tharp, Jr. and wife Sarah, Felicia Tharp, Meagan Lopez and Tres Lopez; great grandchildren: Evan, Mikeala, Hannah, Aden, Addison, Shaylee, Carlee, Leighton, Kayline, Grace, Cole, Erica, Tristan, Nana, Izzy and Mayo and numerous extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
