Roy Wilburn Yates, age 82, was born to parents Charles Roy and Faustine Margaret (Haley) Yates in Dallas, TX, on January 26, 1940, and entered into the presence of our Lord on October 21, 2022.
Roy was a roofer by trade and was self-employed for many years. He loved his dog Little Man dearly, as well as hunting, guns, knives, and the Dallas Cowboys. Roy loved to eat, some of his favorite foods were catfish, steak, shrimp, chocolate, ice cream, and cookies – his family lovingly referred to him as, “The Cookie Monster.” He was a very godly man, a member of the Lakeview Assembly of God, and a faithful follower of Jesus throughout his life.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dottie Yates; son, Randy Yates, Sr.; daughter, Michelle Curry; and brother, Charles Yates.
Roy is survived by daughter, Cindy Rand, of Tool, TX; grandson, Stephen Ward, of Lago Vista, TX; grandson, Randy Yates, Jr., and spouse Sherry of Gun Barrel City, TX; granddaughter, Misty Hunter, of Seven Points, TX; granddaughter, Emily Curry, of Tool, TX; great-granddaughter, McKayla Ward, of Rockwall, TX; great granddaughter, Addison Ward, of Rockwall, TX; and brother, Bobby Yates, of Caddo Mills, TX. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Jesus says in John 14, “In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also” (John 14:1–3).
