Thomas David Collins, a beacon of compassion and dedication, passed away on February 1, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on December 12, 1948, in the vibrant city of San Francisco, California, Tom found immeasurable joy in life’s simple pleasures, always carrying the spirit of his Irish heritage with him throughout his remarkable journey.
Tom dedicated much of his life to serving the community as a Sheriff’s Deputy for the Santa Clara County Sheriff Department. His unwavering commitment to justice and safety left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know him. After several years of devoted public service, he retired, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and generosity that would continue to inspire those around him.
An avid outdoor enthusiast, he relished living at the lake, where tranquil waters mirrored the serenity he brought to those around him. Between adventures, Tom could often be found engrossed in a book or planning his next travel escapade, ever eager to explore new horizons.
In every encounter, he was the embodiment of warmth and welcome, effortlessly putting others at ease with his genuine smile and friendly demeanor. Tom’s kindness knew no bounds; his home was always open to friends and family alike, a place filled with laughter and love.
He is survived by his son, Tony Collins, alongside Tony's supportive partner, Tiffany, as well as one cherished brother. Though he leaves this world, the memories of his laughter, strength, and vibrant spirit will live on in the hearts of many.
Tom reunites with his beloved parents, Bud and Hannah, along with several brothers and sisters who passed before him, a family bond that transcends time.
A graveside service celebrating Tom's life and legacy will be held at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park in Balch Springs, Texas, on February 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
Gone but never forgotten, Thomas David Collins has left behind a rich tapestry of memories woven from love, service, and profound connection. His gentle spirit will forever echo in the lives he touched, reminding us all of the beauty found in kindness and community.
